Pride on the inside - Prison Pride Portland

It is great how Pride events reach out and embrace our LGBT+ community wherever we are in 2024
We were so pleased to see that Portland Prison is embracing Pride with the help of our Jonai (pic left) Jonai is a NHS mental health support worker covering our area and sometimes pops into our WGG pub nights. He will be joining those celebrating Pride in Portland Prison on 20th June.
Jonai will be giving a talk there about LGBT+ and mental health, and they also have a kind of parade - around the site giving out ice creams!
Whilst it is not an environment that any of us would like to celebrate Pride in, we must remember that it was not that long ago that just being who we are would have found us in such a place.
