Dorset County Hospital Pride Network (posted here 13/11/2021 updated 10/05/2023 updated 31/08/2024)
Our Pride Network is part of our ongoing work to make DCH a fully inclusive organisation where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
It is open to all - those who identify as LGBT+ and allies - with the goals of creating a social and welcoming environment, and making DCH an organisation where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. The group will provide a social space for members as well as giving people the chance to have their say on key changes in the Trust, and offers development opportunities.
Meetings are held monthly but involvement can be through our teams group. On the SECOND and FOURTH Tuesday of every month, the network chair and colleagues will be sitting in the courtyard by Costa (or in Costa if it’s raining!) during lunch times 12pm to 1pm to promote the network, answer questions, etc. If you would like more information please get in touch with Network Chair, Anthony Homer, at [email protected] or on 01305 253127.

Gay West
Note, a group of Gay West members visit Weymouth Gay Group most years, when they do, it doubles the number of our guys in the pub!
On their website they say - "We are the longest running group in the South West of England for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, providing a safe and supportive social group in Bath, Bristol and surrounding areas. We are here for people who wish to make new friends, are on their own, have just come out or are not 'scene' orientated".

Gay & Lesbian Underwater Group (GLUG - Great name!)
They do have dive events in Weymouth & Portland most years.
On their website they say - "GLUG is a non-profit SCUBA diving club for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered divers and their friends." They organise a number of dive trips in the UK (some in Dorset) and overseas each year. They meet monthly in London and also plan other social events. You will need to join them to take part in their dives.

Gay Bikers Motorcycle Club (GBMCC) have had events in Dorset in the past, with ride outs / meet ups to places like Poole Quay.
On their website they say - "GBMCC began in 1977 as a club for gay men and women bikers in the UK. With a current membership approaching 500, we are the biggest gay biking club in Europe. Our members come from all over the UK and there are an increasing number from Europe and Overseas. Our members are of all ages and backgrounds. We naturally have varied biking interests, but we are primarily a road-riding club. Riding experience ranges from novice to advanced riders and club racers. It is our interest in motorcycling, which brings us together. The club offers its members a lively programme of events as well as support and friendship."

The Geranium Trust offers its friendship and support to ALL members of the LGBT+ community.
They say:- We hold two regular monthly events in the Yeovil area. There is the very popular 'Sunday Roast Dinner' for gay men held on the last Sunday in the month and the 'Drop In Coffee Morning', for ALL members of the LGBT+ community, on the 2nd Saturday in the month. New! Gillingham - new LGBTQ+ group (posted first on our news page 07/09/2024)
A facebook user has suggested starting a LGBTQ+ group in the North Dorset town of Gillingham.
Note:- we are not sure if this group is still running (March 2025), as we have not heard anything back from them.
This idea is very much welcomed, as North Dorset lacks regular LGBT+ meetups apart from the brilliant Geranium Trust in Stoford (nr Yeovil) with their LGBT events. The wonderful Sherborne Pride (in 2024) illustrated how North Dorset has a thriving LGBT+ community.

(LGBT) Sailing & Cruising Association (updated 31/08/2024)
They do have events along the South Coast, incl Dorset.
On their website they say:- "Founded in 1980, the Sailing & Cruising Association (S&CA) has been at the forefront of championing inclusivity in the world of sailing. Our core mission has always been to provide a welcoming and safe haven for the LGBT+ community to share their passion for sailing and getting out on the water. Over the years, we’ve grown into a vibrant and pivotal community, promoting LGBT+ boating across the UK and beyond, setting a standard in the sailing world for diversity and acceptance."
We’re a virtual sailing club which means we’re not restricted geographically. Our events are focused on the south coast in the Solent (around Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington and the Isle of Wight) and on the East Coast in the Thames Estuary. We have members scattered throughout the UK, sailing in the northeast, Scotland and the West Country, and several keep their boats in the Mediterranean. We’ve a number of members who cruise the inland waterways and in the past we’ve had keen dinghy sailors on rivers and reservoirs. Each year we try to explore a new sailing area, forming a club flotilla of owned and chartered boats. Racing under the Gay UK Sailing Team banner, our members have participated in the Gay Games, Round the Island Race and Fastnet campaigns.

This much welcomed and needed social group for LGBTQ+ Women has met up many times in Weymouth during 2023 & 2024. They now have regular weekly meetups in Weymouth during 2025, many of them at The Kings Arms on Weymouth's harbourside for "Thirsty Thursdays"! They also have a variety of other events during the week.

A social group for trans people welcoming anyone who is on the trans spectrum. Based in Bournemouth, they hold group sessions in social settings for people aged over 18. They invite you to "Come chat and chill with other like-minded people!" On their website they also say:- We have been running in real life, actual person to person, group sessions from May 2021 onwards, after a break due to Covid. We may have sessions outside or inside depending on the weather, and still in the Bournemouth area. Hopefully the weather will be nice to us over the Summer! Looking forward to Pride 2022 this year.

Non-Binary South West (updated 25/06/2022) is a support group for people based in the South West of England who identify beyond binary gender. Website - http://www.nbsw.org.uk/about.html
As non-binary people, we can find that although we do have a lot in common with other trans (and cis) people, we also have issues that are unique to us, whether we're transitioning or not. And it can be difficult to open up about these issues in situations where most people don't "get it", whether in support groups, with friends or family, at work, or in the healthcare system (whether or not we're transitioning). We've created Non-Binary South West to help meet this need, for non-binary people in the South West - and, increasingly, for people beyond the South West who want to join our community too (and are very welcome here). As well as hosting our "private" facebook group, we have regular meetings in Exeter, from 2-4 on the first Saturday of every month, in an accessible space (see the Home page for the next meeting date). Space has local groups in Weymouth on the first and third Thursdays of each month, and in Dorchester on the second and forth Thursdays of each month. In May 2021 Space Youth project started a regular group in Bridport meeting on the second Tuesday each month. (There are groups in many other Dorset towns too).
