Open Table Weymouth - LGTBQIA+ worship
Note:- Following Juliets move away, we hope to bring you updated info here soon. The Open Table events are still running we hear. More upto date info ask Tony at our WGG pub meet ups.

Here at Open Table Weymouth, we are learning from our network of churches around the UK, how to offer a safe, inclusive place for members of the LGTBQIA+ community, their friends, families and allies. We recognise that churches can sometimes be a tricky place to settle into, for anyone, and for LGTBQIA+ especially - seeking a genuine, inclusive place to explore faith, and connect with Christianity in a way that only and always speaks of LOVE.
We gather from 6pm on the first Sunday of the month. This gives us chance to catch up with one another, get parked up, and ready for worship which begins at 6.30pm. The services will vary each month. Sometimes a Holy Communion will happen, where we receive bread and wine that has been blessed and made special by one of the ministers. Other times, we will share stories, read scripture and sing songs, as we share an ‘agape’ meal. We do hope that you find a place with us, we can’t wait to welcome you, your friends, families and allies.
God bless you Rev Juliet (Vicar of Holy Trinity)

"This is Me" Dorchester Trangender+ All LGBT+ people welcome
(posted here Oct/2021 updated 01/01/2022 updated again 25/06/2022, more updates with venue change 06/07/2023 another venue change 01/05/2024, another change! meeting fortnightly 03/10/2024)
Note update 20/09/2025. "This is Me" now has a new website - see - https://thisismedorset.site.pro/ and change of venue in Dorchester to Tom Browns pub Dorchester with a monthly meet up. They have closed their Poole meet ups due to lack of attendance.
This group run by Bridport based Anabelle and Debs has been running for several years with many name and venue (not always their fault) changes recently (plus website change). Thus it has not built up the social following that it may well have benefited from.
They started as Bridport LGBT group many years ago, but when that folded took over Steves Weymouth based Crossdresing and Transgender group at a Weymouth pub. Steves orginal group was an informal evening for all transgender, tv's, cd's, tg's and gender diverse people, their friends & allies meeting up wekly in a back street pub. This thrived for a while, highlighting the need for such a group.
More recently, "This is Me" had a Poole meet up, which has also folded after a short time, due to lack of people attending.
(We are unaware of any publicity / promotion about this that they may have done to promote their Poole venue?)
They also run a "Rainbow gifts" stall selling a range of rainbow goodies and gifts at Pride events, many of which are at Prides outide Dorset.
They are also have a "shop" on their website.
Venue History:-
Presently (2025) meeting up monthly at Tom Browns Pub Dorchester.
Update (01/05/2024) New venue - Goldies, 36 High E St, Dorchester DT1 1HN (from May 7th 2024)
Update: - (06/07/2023) - New venue - The Old Ship Inn High West Street, Dorchester DT1 1UW. (from 1st August 2023)

They said:- Our Pride Network is part of our ongoing work to make DCH a fully inclusive organisation where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
It is open to all - those who identify as LGBT+ and allies - with the goals of creating a social and welcoming environment, and making DCH an organisation where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. The group will provide a social space for members as well as giving people the chance to have their say on key changes in the Trust, and offers development opportunities.
Meetings are held monthly but involvement can be through our teams group. On the SECOND and FOURTH Tuesday of every month, the network chair and colleagues will be sitting in the courtyard by Costa (or in Costa if it’s raining!) during lunch times 12pm to 1pm to promote the network, answer questions, etc. If you would like more information please get in touch with Network Chair, Anthony Homer, at [email protected] or on 01305 253127.
This new and much welcomed group is a member of the LGBT Consortium. Below is a copy of their info there.
"The Pride Network is fairly new for staff within Dorset County Hospital, with the aim of provide a safe space to discuss any issues or concerns that affects our community and to provide individuals the opportunity to make a positive change in order to create a more inclusive environment.

On the GOC website they say - "Get out into the beautiful countryside & coast of Dorset on a GOC walk, and meet new friends. The Gay Outdoor Club operates throughout Great Britain and provides a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender men and women".
The Dorset group organises events throughout the year, usually on the 2nd Sunday of the month and the 5th Sunday starting at 10.00hrs
The typical walk length is 6 to 9 miles with a picnic enroute getting back to our starting point in time for a meal/refreshments at a local pub; plus we are sometimes invited back to the leader's house for tea. We also often hold midweek walks on the 4th Friday of the month (which are shorter and include a pub lunch) starting a little later. Our group consists mainly of men in the 40 to 70 range. We do have women on our walks and they are always most welcome.

Let’s Get Beverages Together - in Yeovil (Posted here 04/12/2021 updated 31/08/2024)
On their website they say:-
We are a charity in Yeovil with a passion for equality and diversity. While we’re only small, we’ve got big plans to bring people together, break down barriers and foster tolerance and acceptance of differences. Our aim and motto is “Encouraging unity in Yeovil’s community”and this is at the heart of everything we do. Education is one of the best tools we have to help to reduce racism, homophobia, ableism and other forms of discrimination; building more inclusive societies.
Yeovil Diversity Project is about bringing people together to learn about and from each other, and to work together to benefit the wider community. We work towards this by amplifying voices of marginalised communities as well as creating safe spaces and platforms for those people to express their lived experiences, needs and hopes for the future. Our work to achieve this takes many forms; annual and monthly events, online and local campaigns, outreach programs, as well as working in collaboration with and supporting other local organisations whose aims are in line with our own. Have a look around to learn more about us and what we’re getting up to in our our first full year as a charity, and do get in touch if you have any questions, feedback or ideas you’d like to share

(LGBT) Sailing & Cruising Association (updated 31/08/2024)
They do have events along the South Coast, incl Dorset.
On their website they say:- "Founded in 1980, the Sailing & Cruising Association (S&CA) has been at the forefront of championing inclusivity in the world of sailing. Our core mission has always been to provide a welcoming and safe haven for the LGBT+ community to share their passion for sailing and getting out on the water. Over the years, we’ve grown into a vibrant and pivotal community, promoting LGBT+ boating across the UK and beyond, setting a standard in the sailing world for diversity and acceptance."
We’re a virtual sailing club which means we’re not restricted geographically. Our events are focused on the south coast in the Solent (around Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington and the Isle of Wight) and on the East Coast in the Thames Estuary. We have members scattered throughout the UK, sailing in the northeast, Scotland and the West Country, and several keep their boats in the Mediterranean. We’ve a number of members who cruise the inland waterways and in the past we’ve had keen dinghy sailors on rivers and reservoirs. Each year we try to explore a new sailing area, forming a club flotilla of owned and chartered boats. Racing under the Gay UK Sailing Team banner, our members have participated in the Gay Games, Round the Island Race and Fastnet campaigns.
Our primary goal is to create a secure and inclusive environment where boating enthusiasts can freely express their love for sailing, irrespective of their gender or sexual orientation. The S&CA has evolved into a vibrant sailing community, boasting a membership of approximately 400 individuals, around 100 being boat owners. Over time, our community has become increasingly diverse, encompassing people from various backgrounds and spanning different age groups. We warmly welcome members of all genders, and sexual orientations. Our community represents a spectrum of gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals, men, women, trans individuals, and those who identify as non-binary.

Transgender & Non Binary groups It can be difficult to meet like minded Transgender & Non Binary people for peer support and social events. If you can travel it helps, the Pride events in our area may well have Transgender groups taking part, so can be a very good place to meet people and find out more. Many of the groups listed above welcome Transgender people, local examples being GayOut Door Club (GOC), Dorset Mind (Mind Out), Geranium Trust, Blackmore Vale LGBT Group, and many others.

Non-Binary South West (updated 25/06/2022) is a support group for people based in the South West of England who identify beyond binary gender. Website - http://www.nbsw.org.uk/about.html
As non-binary people, we can find that although we do have a lot in common with other trans (and cis) people, we also have issues that are unique to us, whether we're transitioning or not. And it can be difficult to open up about these issues in situations where most people don't "get it", whether in support groups, with friends or family, at work, or in the healthcare system (whether or not we're transitioning). We've created Non-Binary South West to help meet this need, for non-binary people in the South West - and, increasingly, for people beyond the South West who want to join our community too (and are very welcome here). As well as hosting our "private" facebook group, we have regular meetings in Exeter, from 2-4 on the first Saturday of every month, in an accessible space (see the Home page for the next meeting date). Please email us to join our facebook group, or for more details.
You can also find them on the Intercom Trust directory page https://www.intercomtrust.org.uk/directory/
