Bridport "This is me" group (Formerly Bridport LGBT Group) (Posted here 30/07/2022 updated 11/03/2023)
The Bridport LGBT group also known recently as "This is Me Bridport" has closed. (11/03/2023)
On social media they said:-
"I am sorry to say the Bridport group has closed. This is due to couple of reasons 1 no body coming to the group. And also due to Steve Mears standing back from Weymouth Group (She means "This is Me in Weymouth", NOT Weymouth Gay Group) and has asked us to take over the running of the group which will happen over the next few weeks. Anybody from the Bridport area are more than welcome to join us on a Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm at The Royal Oak, Dorchester Road, Weymouth. This venue is far bigger than our previous venue though it is still part of the same group who took over our old venue (The Waterloo Pub) recently."
More details from Anabelle - 074114 65007 email anabellebayne@gmail.com
Below is our previous entry here about their group.
It is great when a group bounces back after an absence. This is the case with the former Bridport LGBT Group, now rebranded as "This is me" Bridport. Run by Anabelle and Debbs, they also have some great ideas for other events including a proposed Jurassic Pride in 2023!
The 11th August see's the return of their meetups at The Ropemakers Pub in Bridport (36 West St, Bridport DT6 3QP) from 7pm. Changing the name of the group to "This is me" and running it as a sister group to the Weymouth "This is me" group, it is hoped this will attract more LGBT people and allies.

Dorset County Hospital Pride Network (posted here 13/11/2021 updated 10/05/2023)
Pride Network
Our Pride Network is part of our ongoing work to make DCH a fully inclusive organisation where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
It is open to all - those who identify as LGBT+ and allies - with the goals of creating a social and welcoming environment, and making DCH an organisation where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. The group will provide a social space for members as well as giving people the chance to have their say on key changes in the Trust, and offers development opportunities.
Meetings are held monthly but involvement can be through our teams group. On the SECOND and FOURTH Tuesday of every month, the network chair and colleagues will be sitting in the courtyard by Costa (or in Costa if it’s raining!) during lunch times 12pm to 1pm to promote the network, answer questions, etc. If you would like more information please get in touch with Network Chair, Anthony Homer, at pride.network@dchft.nhs.uk or on 01305 253127.
This new and much welcomed group is a member of the LGBT Consortium. Below is a copy of their info there.
"The Pride Network is fairly new for staff within Dorset County Hospital, with the aim of provide a safe space to discuss any issues or concerns that affects our community and to provide individuals the opportunity to make a positive change in order to create a more inclusive environment.
We are currently reviewing policies and procedures to make DCH more inclusive for staff and patients."

Transgender & Non Binary groups It can be difficult to meet like minded Transgender & Non Binary people for peer support and social events. If you can travel it helps, the Pride events in our area may well have Transgender groups taking part, so can be a very good place to meet people and find out more. Many of the groups listed above welcome Transgender people, local examples being Bridport LGBT Group, Dorset Mind (Mind Out), Geranium Trust, Blackmore Vale LGBT Group, and others.

Non-Binary South West (updated 25/06/2022) is a support group for people based in the South West of England who identify beyond binary gender. Website - http://www.nbsw.org.uk/about.html
As non-binary people, we can find that although we do have a lot in common with other trans (and cis) people, we also have issues that are unique to us, whether we're transitioning or not. And it can be difficult to open up about these issues in situations where most people don't "get it", whether in support groups, with friends or family, at work, or in the healthcare system (whether or not we're transitioning). We've created Non-Binary South West to help meet this need, for non-binary people in the South West - and, increasingly, for people beyond the South West who want to join our community too (and are very welcome here). As well as hosting our "private" facebook group, we have regular meetings in Exeter, from 2-4 on the first Saturday of every month, in an accessible space (see the Home page for the next meeting date). Please email us to join our facebook group, or for more details.
You can also find them on the Intercom Trust directory page https://www.intercomtrust.org.uk/directory/
We are most grateful to Rachel for the information about these two regular Transgender groups below (We are unsure if they are active now in 2022 ?) :-
Wimborne Girls - Trans at the Minster A group of trans girls meeting for chat and a drink in a relaxed and friendly environment. Meet on the 2nd Tuesday (19.30hrs onwards) each month at the White Hart in the centre of Wimborne Minster. Contact Tasmin on cd@qtee.biz
Kiss ‘n MakeUp Transgender support in Bournemouth online. Contact Michelle michmo@live.com Facebook page – KissNmakeup

Groups that are no longer meeting up.
Bridport LGBT Group ending? (posted here 16/02/2022)
Update - please see Bridport "This is me" group at top of this page.
Below is an older copy from our news page from early 2022 (https://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/lgbt-news-weymouth-dorset-2022.)
At a recent LGBT social meet up, Annabelle and Debera, who ran the group said it was closing. Always very sad when a group that offers face to face pub meetups ends. Our community needs more groups like this, but equally they need to be supported by YOU & local LGBT+ people who wish to meet up in a public bar.
Anabelle said that they are keeping their online presence. Below is their statement:-
"This is one post i dont like making after running the group for the last few years and with declining members who are wanting to meet for a drink or coffee we have decided to close the group this will be effective immediately though the facebook page will continue just for any info which may come my way plus remember you can post events etc to the page yourselves. If you find the need to meet with others i am sure the group at Yeovil or Weymouth would make you very welcome. Thank you to all those who have visted over the time the group has run and one other thing be PROUD & LOUD. Goodbye from Anabelle & Debra."

"Out in Purbeck" - No more (posted here 14/03/2019 updated 17/03/2019)
Sadly, we have had conformation that this Swanage based social group is no longer running.
Known as "Out in Purbeck", it used to meet up monthly and offered a safe place for Purbeck based LGBT people to meet up. We had confirmation in an email from the organisers on 16th March 2019.
It's a great shame when a socail group like this folds. Lets hope something new can start up for LGBT people before to long in the Purbeck area.
* NOTE - Their are occasionally LGBT events in The Purbeck area. Organised by groups like - Gay OutDoor Club (GOC), Bournemouth Gay Men's Social's, Allsorts (Lesbian group) and visiting LGBT groups like OutDoor Lads and the Gay & Lesbian Underwater Group (GLUG). Swanage Library had a LGBT display during LGBT History Month in 2019.
Pub Pride - which takes place at the of May every year, had three venues in Dorset in 2023. The Globe Pub in Swange took part with a Drag night.
You can read more about Pub Pride in Dorset on our page here - https://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/dorset-pub-prides.html
Any Purbeck / Swanage events are listed (when known) on our Events Diary Listings page here - https://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/events-diary-monthly-listings.html
