Thursdays our main meet up nights, a social gathering in The Swan (Wetherspoons) pub Weymouth, St Thomas Street town center Weymouth DT4 8EH (between Tesco and town bridge). It is our weekly meet up for friendship, chat, support and a laugh too! Join our guys in right hand corner by fire exit 6/7pm - late. Table number 29. Been about 12 - 15 of us most weeks, 30 plus in the past. Age range 18 - 80 ! Numbers always change as we never know who is attending until they (YOU) do! It's all very informal and friendly. You don't have to be "out", or lgbt to join us, we welcome everyone. It's a public place/pub, not part of "The Gay Scene" and it is up to you as to who knows your lgbt status sexuality/gender etc. One guy even brings his Dad along!
Most guys stay for the whole evening from 6pm, while others just drop by for a short while. A few visit once a month, while others (tourists) join us once or twice a year. So to meet all our guys you really need to attend every week....! Oh, and if you are one of the guys who sit on a table near by watching us all... being unsure whether to join in or not ... we say go on ... we don't bite! We understand how it may be difficult for you, but it may be the best thing you ever did, come say hi.
Mondays We are in various different pubs/bars around town, which helps to keep Mondays fresh. Our guys like to eat (and drink) in many of the towns and harbour side venues. These include :- The Stable (Pizza & Cider), The George Inn & Grill, The Red Lion, The Somerset Hotel, The Pie & Ale House, The Gloucester, The Old Rooms Inn, The White Hart, and many other town, seafront and harbour side venues. It's up to the guys who attend as to where we meet up on Mondays (we vote on it!). Then we put the venue onto our website here. Remember, it is your group if you come along!
Other days We also have many other events eg film nights, summer beach BBQ's, trips to gay prides etc. So keep checking back here for details, but it is better if you can join us at our regular pub nights to keep updated with all that's going on. Oh, plus lots of other lgbt events in our part of Dorset too, over 35 most months! Keep up to date with all of these events on our events diary page https://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/events-diary-monthly-listings.html
We have enjoyed the company of a full range of LGBTIQ+ (and straight) people joining our events over the past 10 years, presently we are mainly a male gay/bi/straight group, but we welcome diversity! The group is "owned" by the guys/people who attend and YOU can make suggestions for future events and advise on any issues. Its your group if you come along!
More! We also try to put everything a LGBTIQ person needs to know in Weymouth/Portland/Dorchester/Bridport area (and other parts of Dorset too) on our website. So live here, or visiting? It's all for you! Please check out all our pages here. Our "helplines page" http://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/helplinessupport-groups.html and "LGBT Weymouth news/groups/events" pages are well worth you looking at.

Our Group History
TEN years ago ..... a small group of us discovered that nothing was happening in Weymouth for gay and bi guys (and other lgbt people). So we made it happen! Just meeting informally once a week in a corner of a pub... and we still do today, but now TWICE a week! OK, different pubs, and sometimes 30 plus of us, not just the 4 or 5 originals of years ago. We just like to chat, have a drink, or meal, and meet new people.... we found that other guys liked the same. Perhaps the very informal and friendly nature of the group, without a committee, or commitment helped to make it work well. Why TWICE a week? You guys wanted more! "Dorset Knobs!" was our old nick name, but we have metamorphosed into becoming "Weymouth Gay Group". EVERY Thursday in The SWAN (Wetherspoons) pub Weymouth, Mondays other pubs around town.
We have enjoyed the company of a full range of LGBTQI (and straight) people joining our events over the past 10 years, presently we are mainly a male gay/bi/straight group, but we welcome diversity! You do not have to be "out" to join us. Some people who wished to attend have said "I don't do the scene so can't join you". Well, we have never known a Wetherspoons pub to be called part of "the scene" before! We are just a bunch of "normal" guys sitting in a corner of a pub, our sexuality sometimes is irrelevant! Other customers in the Wetherspoons pub are unaware of the nature of our group. We have a good relationship with the pub management, and that helps to keep everyone safe. Oh, and perhaps a few of the staff might like to join us if they were off duty!
The group is "owned" by the guys/people who attend and they make suggestions for future events and advise on any issues. It's your group if you come along, and your input is welcomed. We do have a set of guidelines which you can view here - https://weymouthgaygroup.weebly.com/wgg-group-guide-lines.html

A note about the above photos...
The photo on the left was taken in Bournemouth at Bourne Free (Bournemouth Gay pride - BourneFree) a few years ago (we go as a group every year on train). It's great to attend local events as a group. While some of the guys in the photo have now moved away, you will find many of them at our twice weekly pub meet ups in Weymouth.
One of the great things about joining a group of like minded people is not only meeting new friends, but also accessing a network of valuable contacts. The photo on the right includes:- a Unison LGBT rep, Dorset Mind Out LGBT volunteer, Dorset Equality Network LGBT team people, b-side arts project intern, NHS mental health worker, a BEM rep, MCC Church attendee, a straight person, a Transgendered person, plus two husbands! Photo taken at b-side arts festival on Portland September 2016 where the London Gay Men's Chorus premiered their song "Shame". No shame in asking who's who at our pub meet ups, - everyone welcomed. They may even be sitting next to you.
Why not join our Weymouth Gay Group events. You will be with friends in a safe place with a valuable and varied network of new friends and contacts. Join us soon. Enjoy!
Swan Pub. Background noise Is this a problem for you? You are not alone. We are aware of this but unsure of a easy solution. We have informed the management in the Swan. They already understand as many people have already reported this to them. The layout of the building has limitations. Check out our comments about the Swan on "Trip adviser" you will see other people have also commented about the noise problem in the Swan. Our Monday meet ups are in less noisy venues (than the Swan) around town, so that may be best for you? The Swan has less noise normally (not so busy) before 5/6pm and after 10/11pm. If you don't like busy times, and are free then that could be the best times for you to join us. But it changes, depending on the time of year. Tourists flood into the The Swan in summer, some join us! Oh and sometimes ....the squadies (hot boys) drop by! Perhaps that's is why you lot make more noise around our table sometimes! He he
