We asked a few guys... "What events have you enjoyed the most in the last few years with Weymouth Gay Group and why?"
- here are some replies written in December 2016 & Jan 2017.
"I have enjoyed coming to the group, and thank you for the opportunity to attend.
The group has helped me to come out of my shell, and my self-esteem and self confidence has improved, thanks to you and the group. I will continue to spread the word about the group."
Charlie (a younger guy) August 2019
I think our pub evenings and dining out evenings on Thursdays and Mondays are always enjoyable and often hilarious. I must think so as I have been attending these events religiously (if that's the right word?) since March 2014. Regardless of orientation, age, politics or religion, I think anyone who comes to the group with an open mind will get a warm welcome, and find it a rewarding experience. (Graham. 22/ 12/2016)
I've only attended the pub nights so far, but everyone has been very friendly and welcoming. I hope to attend more events during 2017! (Simon Jan 2017)
The fact that on two nights each week (for over 9 years!) it's possible to enjoy the company of local gay guys in a safe and supportive group in our old town is great. Plus it's awesome to see almost 300 lgbt events in our part of sleepy old Dorset last (and this) year. I know it's hard to make that first step to join new friends, but I am so glad I did. It's been such a laugh, and such a positive experience. (no name given. Jan 2017).
"Thanks for what you do, it is a pleasure to meet such a cool gang of guys/people in a public setting and to feel so welcome. Thanks also for your website as this is so helpful and so well laid out even me finds it easy to use and informative! See you all as and when able, hopefully often. (A. 18 July 2015)
"I feel very settled in the group. I feel like I've been attending for ages when actual fact it's only been a couple of months but all of you are so friendly, so welcoming and a good gaff etc. It's great I'm really happy you invited me along (via Grindr) when you did". (B.B. 6/June/2015)
How about going bowling? It would make a change from the pub. (no name given, Jan 2017) We have done this before, but very few guys attended, but happy to try it again. Keep an eye on our events pages! More event ideas always welcomed.
For me, a huge highlight of the year was the astonishing play at Weymouth College about the Stonewall riot. "Crossing The Line". (no name given) (See our event reviews page about this event)
Christmas Party. Alcohol. Red Wine. Brandy. Cider. New locations for Mondays eg Nautico Lounge, Red Lion. (Neil) - So no change their then! He he - oh, and we do meet up in Nautico Lounge & Red Lion sometimes!
More HOTTIES please, less mention's of Philippines! (no name given). Okies .. or of hair colour? he he ha ha
It's not one event, but the fact that on two nights each week it's possible to enjoy the company of gay guys in a safe and supportive group in our s**t old town! Plus it's awesome to read almost 300 lgbt events this year in our part of sleepy old Dorset last (and this) year. I know it's hard to make that first step to join new friends, but I am so glad I did. It's been such a laugh and boosted me (no name given).
The single most enjoyable event was the play about the Stonewall Riots put on by students at Weymouth College theater. I feared it might be an embarrassing fiasco but it was brilliant. I think everyone who attended from the group was very impressed.
Otherwise I think our pub evenings and dining out evenings on Thursdays and Mondays are always enjoyable and often hilarious. I must think so as I have been attending these events religiously (if that's the right word?) since March 2014.
Many thank to our "mother hen" for his continuing and tireless efforts to keep the group going and to make it as fresh and interesting as possible. He and I are always trying to put the world to rights through a ferment of political debate, although we rarely agree on anything. But regardless of orientation, age, politics or religion, I think anyone who comes to the group with an open mind will get a warm welcome, and find it a rewarding experience.
(Graham C. 22/ Dec/2016)
I've had many enjoyable nights at the gay nights in all the different pubs and venues. I've met many nice guys over the years I've been going (since 2010) and met some nice friends, also I think it's nice that we have started going to Christmas meals. It would be nice if some more younger guys would attend, but I don't mean that as agest in any way at all just to have more different age ranges. I've always enjoyed the BourneFree at Bournemouth (Bournemouth Pride) and meeting the Gay Group there.
(Mark H. 5/1/2017)
A comment from someone who has not attended, but seen our group online.
Very impressed with your group's organisation and publicity and social media mate! My background is in local newspaper sports journalism and press officer for gay sports clubs. Kind Regards. David X (17/1/2017)

Gay group is great!! Wonderful introduction to gay Weymouth. Hardly worth going to Gran Canaria anymore.
G. (9/10/2014)
The groups friendship helped me a lot to get through a difficult week. Please pass my thanks on. I hope you all go from strength to strength. J in London (a visitor to Weymouth summer 2014).
A great place to meet new and old friends, but needs some exciting events and trips and activities. A
Just wanted to thank you for making us both so welcomed on our first night. We both really appreciated it. We were really pleased with the nature of the group. What a lovely bunch of guys you all are. So ....thanks. You'll be seeing us again. K& P.
Fantastic night OUT, love the guys, I look forward to it! K.
This group is the REAL Grindr! Wake up Weymuff! Qx

Love our new website, thanks Ash! Pls don't put my embarrassing pic there! Hope we get more guys looking at our website and joining our group. They don't know what they miss'n ! ...C.
I can't believe everyone's so badly behaved I'm a good boy I am ! D.
The groups family atmosphere is the best! M.
I love being around men all the time. I think this is very helpful, only wish I'd known about this place sooner. I love it, the people are nice and I love being able to be "out" with a group of people I don't know very well. xxx H.
Best thing that's happened to me recently. K. Been a bit down recently and this group really picked me up! FAB! We will definitely be along again. K & P.
Some of the guys alcoholic levels may have influenced their response....
Manlyness comp.... (followed by something I could not read ....and a few illustrations!) A.
Big gay orgy!! (joke) N,E,P,R,J.
Perhaps it was getting late in the evening when regular guys J & N where asked to make a written comment. A lack of co -ordination between hand, pen and paper may be their excuse, but they appeared to have a similar skill to get a drink and thus enjoy the rest of the evening! He he....!
